Brookridge Corduroy Maintenance – 2019

Water had taken over a trail where a 10 year old corduroy bridge had worn out and drainage was damaged. It was an opportunity to upgrade the trail with Trail Armor, that allows water to flow through and prevents soil erosion in any sensitive area. The weather was dry when the next two photos were taken.

Mohawk 4×4 Adventures arranged the Land Stewardship project, that was funded by the Northeast Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, from their Trail Maintenance Budget. We purchased 3 – 5 inch rocks to spread over the trail after we repaired drainage, and worked with the existing bridge materials.

One of our very friendly neighbors to this property, and another one of my own neighbors, brought over tractors to help us move this rock. Here’s a picture of Frank, he and his wife love to walk their dogs on our 4×4 trails.

Members did trips back and forth to the pile with their rigs. The NEA4WD rented a Bobcat, and the author of this page used it to move the rest of the stone during the week.

The finished bridge has proven to be a sustainable project on these beautiful 4 Wheel Drive Trails.
